The President of Slovakia, Peter Pellegrini, appointed 30 new professors of universities on October 14, 2026, at the Presidential Palace. The professors, representing medical, economic, legal, technical, humanitarian, and natural science disciplines, received their appointment decrees from the head of state.
One of the newly appointed professors is also an employee of the Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Informatics at UKF in Nitra, Prof. PaedDr. Janka Medová, PhD., to whom we sincerely congratulate and wish much success and creative energy in her further work.
President Peter Pellegrini emphasized to the professors that Slovakia is building its success, competitiveness, economic prosperity, and cultural and social development on human talent and abilities today.
“Therefore, your work is a valuable investment. You not only educate and raise students, but you are also an example and inspiration for them,” stated the President of Slovakia, noting that their voice and authority have an impact not only in the academic world but in the entire public space. According to him, professors combine scientific and professional activities with the preparation and education of young generations, actively participating in shaping them and the entire country.
The President of Slovakia pointed out that professors have the opportunity to influence public discourse and contribute to solving serious societal problems through their attitudes and conduct. “Active, responsible, and competent use of innovations, including artificial intelligence, can show Slovakia the right path,” stated P. Pellegrini.
He added that we must not be afraid to be successful in order to take advantage of the opportunities of the 21st century and not drown in clichés about small nations. “Today, there are no small nations. There are only nations that can better or worse utilize their chances and their wealth based on human resources. It depends on us which group we want and will belong to,” emphasized the President of Slovakia.
According to him, expertise and education will help us respond to current challenges and problems. He reminded the professors that they are the bearers of knowledge and scientific facts. “You are the guarantors that society will not succumb to the influence of pseudoscientific theories. You are one of the cornerstones of education and the formation of an educated nation,” concluded President Peter Pellegrini.
