With its almost sixty-year tradition of education, the Faculty of Education is one of the oldest constituent parts of today’s Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra. Since its establishment, it has focused primarily on preparing graduates for teaching professions. However, from the original Pedagogical Institute (1959 – 1963), it has gradually evolved into its current form as a modern higher education institution responding to current societal needs through applied and basic research.
In line with its original orientation in the field of teacher education, philosophy of education, and educational policy, the Faculty of Education continues to direct its educational and research activities primarily towards preparing graduates for academic teaching programs, artistic-educational, educational, professional subjects and practical training subjects, primary education teaching, and the preschool and elementary pedagogy program. The faculty also prepares specialists in non-teaching study programs with opportunities for employment in intercultural mediation in state and public administration, regional development, tourism, sports and recreation, music, special education, and education in school, extracurricular, corporate, and other educational institutions.
The Faculty of Education also creates conditions for the implementation of various continuous education programs – qualification studies and other forms of lifelong learning. The education system at the faculty is dynamically optimized so that graduates of individual bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral study programs can successfully and creatively solve the tasks they will face in their daily practice.
