Electronic Mail

E-mail accounts for students and employees are automatically created upon the creation of a student or employee account for access to the university’s information systems.

The e-mail address has the format:

  • student and doctoral student:
  • employee: (first letter of first name + last name)
  • in case an account with the same name was previously created for another person, a sequential number will be added to the end of the account name

Access to e-mail accounts is possible from anywhere on the internet via the web interface:

E-mail account usage rules:

  • The disk space provided for e-mail accounts is 450 MB, and the user is obliged to ensure its effective use (e.g., by moving messages from the server to a local computer using the POP3 protocol, regularly deleting large and unnecessary messages, etc.).
  • If the disk limit is exceeded, the user will first be notified of this fact by an automated system, and if the problem is not resolved, the mailbox will be blocked (again by an automated system). A blocked mailbox does not receive new mail.
  • An employee of the ICT Center responsible for managing the mail server handles the blocking and any further problems with the e-mail mailbox.
  • A maximum limit of 15 MB per message is set for message transfer (receiving, sending). If this limit is exceeded, it is not possible to send the message to another e-mail address, nor is it possible to receive a larger message from another e-mail address.
  • The cancellation of an e-mail mailbox will occur automatically within 3 months after the termination of an employee’s employment or a student’s studies.
  • Non-standard e-mail mailboxes are subject to the approval of the director of the Center for Information and Communication Technologies and will only be created in exceptional and justified cases based on a request for a non-standard e-mail account.

Guides:

  • Connection details for e-mail client (MS Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, the Bat, etc.)
