Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is a non-profit international student organization and one of the largest student associations in Europe. The ESN center is located in Brussels, Belgium. ESN’s goal is to represent international students and provide them with opportunities for cultural understanding and personal development based on the principle of ‘Students Helping Students’. Currently, ESN operates in 37 countries and includes around 13,500 members – volunteers working in 460 sections. One of these sections became ESN UKF Nitra in 2011, as one of the 13 ESN sections established in Slovakia within the ESN Slovakia network.
ESN UKF Section is a branch established for the needs of Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, which annually receives approximately 50-60 international students admitted for mobility (short study stay or internship) through various exchange programs (Erasmus, NŠP SR, CEEPUS, DAAD, Erasmus Mundus, Austria-Slovakia Action, scholarships of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic, IVF, and others). The ESN UKF section has about 20 members who form the section’s management team and Buddies, who assist individual international students during their mobility at UKF. The section’s task is to provide assistance services to international students during their stay at UKF (pick-up service, assistance with obtaining residence permits and UKF student ID cards, interpretation, and possibly some academic matters) based on the instructions of the UKF International Relations Office, with which the section closely cooperates. In addition, the section creates conditions for intercultural learning and development for international students and its own ESN members. Furthermore, it represents Slovakia and UKF in Nitra in relation to mobility participants coming from abroad and helps to increase our visibility abroad through activities and international ESN section meetings.
