The conditions for granting social scholarships from the state budget are established by § 96 paragraphs 1 to 8 of the Act on Universities and on Amendments to Certain Acts, Decree of the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic No. 102/2006 on granting social scholarships to university students, as amended, and the Scholarship Regulations of Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra.
A student who is studying at a university for the first time in full-time study in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program, has permanent residence in the Slovak Republic, has not exceeded the standard length of study in the relevant study program, and whose family’s decisive income is not higher than the income limit set based on the subsistence minimum, has a legal claim to a social scholarship.
Social scholarships are paid as a recurring monthly financial amount during one academic year, no later than the tenth day of the respective calendar month, to a bank account held in the Slovak Republic.
A student who has been granted a social scholarship may request a reassessment during the academic year by submitting a new application if new circumstances arise within the circle of jointly assessed persons that affect the granted amount of the social scholarship.
The amount of the social scholarship is linked to legislative changes in the amounts of the subsistence minimum. The maximum monthly scholarship amount is different if the applicant studies in their place of permanent residence, and different if they study 30 or more kilometers from their place of permanent residence. The specific amount of the social scholarship depends on the jointly assessed persons and their total income.
The social scholarship will be provided to the applicant from the first day of the month in which they applied for support.
Information about the receipt of the decision on the granted/not granted social scholarship is sent to the student’s UKF StudMAIL email address.
What needs to be done
- read the Manual for applicants for social scholarships
- Guide to obtaining documents for the social scholarship application
- submit the Application for granting a social scholarship exclusively at the Scholarship Department, no earlier than 01. 09. throughout the academic year, provided that personal or electronic enrollment in the year of the relevant degree has been completed in the current academic year
- attach the necessary documents to the application according to the Manual for applicants for social scholarships, which are filled out by the student or jointly assessed persons
