Membership in international organizations offers the opportunity to gain invaluable knowledge and information about modern trends in education and research, enables participants to establish contacts with experts in their scientific fields, and contributes to the improvement of educational standards, as well as the effective development of the academic and scientific environment at UKF. Through its academic staff, scientists, and educators, Constantine the Philosopher University is represented in several professional international organizations:
- European University Association (EUA) – founded in 2001 as a result of the merger of the Association of European Universities and the Confederation of Rectors’ Conferences within the EU, EUA today has 850 members in 47 countries and is one of the largest and most comprehensive organizations representing the interests of universities in Europe. EUA provides its members with a platform for exchanging experiences through participation in projects, educational and other events, and offers them the opportunity to influence and shape future EU policy and initiatives in education and research (their development, programs, and funding instruments). EUA organizes a large number of international meetings that provide a space for finding solutions to key issues regarding the acquisition and management of finances in the education sector, quality assurance, lifelong learning, and research cooperation, supporting partnerships between rectors’ conferences at the national level, and presenting European universities on a global scale.
- Danube Rector´s Conference is a network of approximately 70 universities in the Danube region, aiming to improve teaching and research in the higher education sector within the region, and to promote cooperation among these institutions based on bilateral and multilateral contacts, as established at the conference in Brijuni. Within its activities, DRC focuses on coordinating information and actions of common interest, promoting cooperation in areas of common interest, and thus supporting stability and the development of an open democratic society. DRC also acts as a consultant, presenting its views and recommendations on problematic issues concerning universities and mediating them to the governmental level, as well as to organizations involved in cooperation with universities. It ensures communication between rectors’ conferences and with EUA, UNESCO, the EU, etc. Practically, it organizes conferences, workshops, summer schools, and assists in involving universities in EU projects.
- Magna Charta Universitatum – formally the Magna Charta Observatory of Fundamental University Values and Rights, is a non-profit organization founded by the University of Bologna and the EUA association. The Magna Charta Observatory aims to collect information, opinions, and prepare documents for the preservation and promotion of fundamental university values and rights enshrined in the Magna Charta Universitatum, which was signed in Bologna in 1988 with the participation of 388 rectors from prominent universities worldwide.
- European Association of Schools of Social Work (EASSW) – the association promotes the development of social work education throughout Europe, develops standards to enhance the quality of social work education, fosters international exchange, and provides forums for sharing and exchanging research findings in social work and scholarship opportunities. It fulfills its goals through the ENSACT conference on the work of social work educators, representation within the EU and the Council of Europe, the European Journal of Social Work, funding small transnational projects on social work education, and publishing an information bulletin.
- Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is the largest student organization in Europe, established through ESN sections at over 900 higher education institutions in 40 countries. The organization operates on a volunteer basis, currently having about 15,000 active members and encompassing approximately 40,000 young people who annually offer their services to about 220,000 international students. The main idea of the organization is to provide opportunities for cultural understanding and personal development for international students in line with the principle of Students Helping Students. ESN participates in numerous international organizations, projects, and studies related to mobility and promotes cooperation through the International Education Committee.
- Translation Automation User Society (TAUS) – membership in the TAUS “think tank” provides access to information and technologies in the field of translation automation and represents one of the main knowledge sources for research in this rapidly developing part of the translation industry. Membership allows us to use TAUS databases and research within research projects focused primarily on evaluating machine translation using the “Dynamic Quality Framework” (DQF). Members include prominent European universities involved in The European Master in Translation (EMT) program, as well as other significant universities worldwide. Among regular members are the most important global companies, as well as state institutions from countries around the world (Microsoft, Intel, HP, Google, …).
- Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) – currently brings together 817 members from 106 countries worldwide. AUF contributes to the creation of a scientific space in French and brings together higher education and research institutions worldwide. Membership in the agency will bring Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra cooperation with Francophone academic partners around the world. In addition to maintaining a vibrant Francophone scientific environment, AUF offers services for students, lecturers, and researchers, including mobility funding, access to online study programs, and support for research projects. The agency also supports institutions undergoing modernization (upgrade of management systems; self-assessment and evaluation programs…). AUF operates worldwide, with the headquarters of the Central European section in Bucharest (Romania).
- European Cultural Route of Saints Cyril and Methodius – founded in 2013, it is an international network of partners that, through its activities, promotes the visibility and preservation of the living legacy of Cyril and Methodius, supports Christian roots and values based on respect and dialogue among people of different cultures and faiths. The Route connects significant places and institutions presenting the still relevant legacy of Saints Cyril and Methodius and their followers through a diverse range of cultural-educational and pilgrimage tourism products. Emphasis is placed on strengthening the regional development of the participating countries and European cultural identity.
- SocNet98 – European Network of Universities/Schools of Social Work – This is a network of faculties focused on teaching social work within the former European LLP/Erasmus program. The SocNet98 network was founded in 1998 during an international conference in Groningen (NL) and Jena (Germany) by the universities of Groningen, Emden, Jena, Odense, and Porsgrunn. SocNet manages exchange stays for lecturers and students on an individual and bilateral level, creates a working platform for partners in the network who cooperate mainly within the Erasmus program, and covers relevant aspects of social work by organizing and participating in international university weeks. Currently, SocNet98 consists of 16 members from 11 countries.
- University Network for the Study of Cultural Routes is a network of universities interested in studying the cultural routes of the Council of Europe. The network’s goal is to stimulate research related to the cultural routes of the Council of Europe, encourage students to pursue academic research on cultural routes, jointly apply for European grants with the European Institute of Cultural Routes in Luxembourg (EICR), participate in EICR activities, and provide scientific advice when needed. The University Network for the Study of Cultural Routes was established in 2012 to facilitate exchanges between the Council of Europe’s Cultural Routes program, universities involved in the protection and promotion of cultural heritage, and certified cultural routes.
