Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra and Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica actively responded in 2023 to the call of the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic for submitting projects to create university consortia, through which the ministry declared it to be one of the key steps in strengthening cooperation and excellence in education and science. The call guaranteed that universities could use financial resources for the modernization and construction of integrated research, educational, or accommodation infrastructure, for example, by building new facilities, purchasing buildings and land, or modifying outdoor areas.
The goal of project no. 08I01-20-V05-00002, “Strategic Development of the UMB and UKF Consortium Infrastructure”, within the consortium, is to harmonize and integrate internal quality assurance systems, create joint study programs, information and library systems, share the offer of university subjects, educational courses, scientific, popularization, and support activities, and link services in the area of support and counseling. By reconstructing and modifying the dormitories, faculty buildings, libraries, and other university facilities of the consortium, it contributes to closer cooperation between universities, the concentration of excellent research and doctoral studies, and thus fulfills the goals of the Recovery and Resilience Plan.

- Harmonization of internal quality systems based on jointly defined procedures and areas
- Creation of joint study programs
- Providing the opportunity to complete subjects from the offer of all universities within the consortium
- Concentration of research and innovation capacities
- Sharing of premises, laboratories, specialized classrooms, and equipment of the schools
- Integration at the level of library, publication, and IT systems
- Harmonization and integration in the area of student counseling and support
- Sharing of accommodation, catering, leisure, and other premises, equipment, and services
- Reconstruction of the accommodation block of ŠD UKF Nitra
