The preparation and defense of a final thesis is a fundamental condition for the successful completion of studies at all levels of higher education. The final thesis and its defense are part of the state examination.
The final thesis is an independent work of the student, carried out under the guidance of a supervisor appointed by the head of the training workplace.
The final thesis must not unlawfully infringe upon the rights or legally protected interests of third parties, in particular, it must not violate the intellectual property rights of a third party or unlawfully handle confidential information, personal data, confidential information, or trade secrets of a third party.
With the consent of the dean, the final thesis may also be written and defended in a language other than the state language. A condition for admission to the defense of the final thesis is the student’s consent (except in cases under § 63 para. 11 of Act 131/2002) to the publication and public access to the final thesis without the right to remuneration.
